Downtown

If you are in Downtown Vancouver there are some locations close by that you can visit.  This is definitely a walking tour.

The place to start with is Vancouver Public Library.  This is the location for the very first scene in episode 1.01.  The scene of the Mall attack.

Address: 350 West Georgia Street, Vancouver, B.C. V6B 6B1

Below is what it looked like at the time of filming the first episode.  They returned to Vancouver Public Library in episode 2.02 where Scylla revisits the scene of the attack and meets up with Anacostia.

The Orpheum Theatre is at 601 Smithe St, Vancouver, BC V6B 3L4.  This was used to film episode 2.05 where Anacostia and Scylla go with Shane and they rescue Tiffany.  It might be possible to book onto a tour of the theatre, but even if the building is closed, it is possible to see some of the filming location.

Ideally you want to enter at the Granville Street entrance and walk through the mirrored entrance and up the stairs.  This is where Scylla and Anacostia enter.  From there you go down the next stairs, where Anacostia and Scylla stood and talked about their improvised plan, and then walk down Scylla’s staircase into the foyer where the Camarilla had gathered with the Exarch and Tiffany.

This can also be seen through the glass doors at the Seymour St entrance.  Even if you cannot get into the building, you can see where the main action took place and take photos through the door.

In episode 2.04, Motherland filmed at the Plaza of Nations. Address:  750 Pacific Blvd, Vancouver, BC V6B 5E7, Canada

This was where production set up the reception area for new recruits and the stage for General Alder.

This is where the buses arrived and there were Not Our Daughters demonstrators.  On my most recent visit, the steps had been repainted and were not yellow anymore.

The Permanent Building 330 W. Pender St V6B 3K2

The Permanent Building was first used in episode 1.03  where the interior was used for the meeting of The Hague.  It has since been sold off and refurbished.  Going inside is not possible and the locations we would recognise no longer exist.

However, the outside was used in season 3.  The meeting that M infiltrates takes place inside there.  We see Anacostia and M standing outside The Permanent, discussing the mission before M goes inside.  They were standing at almost the exact point I was when I took this photo.  The interior filming of that meeting was filmed at the studio.

During season 1, Gabriola Mansion was used for some scenes, mainly in episode 1.03.  It was the interior of Memorial hall, as well as the site of the Atrocities museum and the Rotunda where Scylla and Raelle spoke.  It was also used for some scenes in episode 1.04, such as when Abigail is getting intimate with Clive Garland.

Address: Gabriola Mansion 1523 Davie St V6G 3A2

It has been sold and renovated and it is no longer possible to visit and see the locations.
