This is one of the magical must-visit Motherland locations. If you are ever in downtown Vancouver and have half an hour to spare, you can pop to the library and visit this. The site of the first ever scene of Motherland. The Spree mall attack. It was also the location for filming the incredibly powerful scene from ep 2.02 when Scylla returns to the scene of the attack and we see the deep remorse she feels for all those lost lives.
This is what it looked like when the pilot episode was filmed. The army bunting and balloons decorating the mall.

When I visited it on 2023, it looked like this. No ballons, but the balcony banners were orange.

Now, two years later, the orange banners have disappeared.

Initially I thought this looked less striking and was slightly disappointed. But going back through images to write the blogs, I looked again at Scylla’s walk through in 2.02

The orange banners were not there. So, now, it actually looks MORE like it did when the episode was originally filmed.
Incidentally, the library has a shop. I had to visit and buy at least one souvenir. I bought Vancouver Public Library Pride Socks.
